Grade 4-6-- Close friends Lisa, Stevie, and Carole share a passion for horses. During the summer that Carole monitors the mare Delilah's pregnancy, Stevie is charged with inventing gymkhana events and Lisa decides to write formal rules for their saddle club. Their preoccupations cause separation pangs among the friends until Delilah's foaling proves that, acting as one, they are a winning team. The vet congratulates the girls for a successful delivery, but none of the standbys cuts the umbilical cord or accounts for the afterbirth. More plausible than Ann Sheldon's "Linda Craig" series (Archway), the "Saddle Club" still lacks originality. And Carole is busy helping the vet care for Delilah, the mare who is soon to give birth to a foal sired by Cobalt, Carole's beloved stallion. Neither of them seems to have time for Lisa, who's been drawing up an elaborate constitution for the club, including rules for meeting attendance. Lisa is getting tired of being the only one at club meetings! Unless the threesome decides to stick together, there won't be any Saddle Club and no fun at Pine Hollow Stables. The Saddle Club is the best series ever!!

I own every Saddle Club book and they are all great. In this book I like the plot. Lisa might have gone overboard just a little. I like the Saddle Club how it is now-with just two rules. Being horse crazy and helping each other out are the best rules that there could ever be. But I do think the Stevie and Carol could have paid a little more attention to Lisa and the times of her meetings. All three girls just got a caught up in their own thing that they had to do. Tense, Exciting, deciveing...

I can't believe how this book was so exciting! I couldn't also believe it when Lisa is not seeing that the french girl is lying to her. A young white horse??? I'm glad Stevie and Carole got to Lisa first. It Was VERY funny when Stevie was trying to invent the gymkhana games on her own. it was exciting to see Delilah foal and how Carole learned alot on horse care when foaling time comes around. Bryant does a great job of keeping the reader hanging on in this book.

This is one important book

Over all this book was a tipical book of the Saddle Club. I was very surpised at how all of the members acted in the book! There are a few surprises and all the girls of the saddle club are all focussed on there own thing and it seems like they don't have time for eachother! Majorly important things happen in this book so if you are interested about reading a lot of the books from this series this is a must have!
